No Animals Were Harmed on Our Summer Fun Shoot (Only Apples!)
There was a great turnout for our Summer Fun Shoot this weekend where members could try their luck at a field shoot with a bit of William Tell thrown in.
It was a chance to be at one with the bow and shoot at random distances where sights and clickers offered no advantage and where the scoring system could change at the munch of a Quality Street.
We shot ends of six arrows at picture targets including rats, cats, boars and ravens which all seemed to take it in good spirit, although those of us who cried at Bambi (and who didn't?) may have had a few deliberate misses. When it came to scoring, one of our junior members would pick a sweet out of a bag which had a number from 1-6 inside it, and that number dictated what you would score for that round. For bonus points, there was a vegetarian option of hitting apples dangling on strings which really exercised our core skills (yes, I went there).
Afterwards there was no smoke without burger as we tucked in to our traditional BBQ lunch, expertly tended by Andre and Brian, and chatted about the apple that got away.
As you can see, the weather was on our side making for a glorious afternoon of fun in the sun. Many thanks to all of you who came along and joined in and for all those who helped make it happen.
