3 Dozen Days are a chance for new or improving Archers to achieve merit badges based on scoring a specific total or higher with 36 arrows (3 Dozen). These are additional days that don't require you to shoot a complete round to attain the badges. Although you can also achieve the badge if you score the required amount with the first 36 (3 dozen) arrows of any round within a scoring day.
Shooting will be in details of 1 or 2 archers (maximum 4 per target) shooting 3 arrows each then swapping details and shooting another 3 arrows each before going to collect. As with all shooting days the line must be controlled by either the Field Captain or a designated Range Captain.
These sessions are for 3 Dozen rounds ONLY and no practice or other shooting will be allowed. Each 3 Dozen Day will be available for ALL Distances (Imperial only 20-100 yards) IMPERIAL SCORING ONLY. (m,1,3,5,7,9). PLEASE NOTE - Badges must be attained in order from 20 through 100 yards. Please choose the next closest distance you want to attain when selecting from the options available. You only need to shoot 3 Dozen at that distance. You only need to achieve the required score once to get the badge you can then move to the next distance up.
We are time limited to the morning session but it may be possible to shoot more than one distance per day if you are quick and achieve your badge at the first attempt. I.e if you shoot 20 yards and get the score you can then opt to shoot 30 yards if time is available. This is at the Range Captain's discretion.
Unfortunately you only get one attempt at each distance on the same day So if you shoot 20 yards and fail you can't shoot it again as rules deem you have had a practice Each Distance is allowed 6 sighters only before you score.
All score sheets must be signed by the Archer and scorer and countersigned by the Field Captain / Range captain to be valid for club/county records. Please check your score sheets carefully before handing them in to the Field/Range Captain before you leave for the day.
