Our main weekly practice session where you can shoot at a range of distances in an informal and friendly environment. Use these sessions to tune your bow, practice your form or shoot a round as long as there is time which you should check with the Field Captain before starting to shoot.
If you are shooting a round, remember that normal Archery GB rules apply so you must have the correct amount of 'sighters' before scoring. That means that you can't shoot a dozen practice arrows and then score a round to submit to the Records Officer. Again, the Field Captain can help you here.
You must help set up the field and pack away again. Arriving after shooting has started and leaving before shooting ends is not fair on your club mates. If you know that you cannot stay for the whole session, make the Field Captain aware of this.
Dress code is informal except for the usual safety requirements involving footwear (no open toes) and loose clothing (no dangly bits).
Remember to sign the register upon arrival at the field which is a mandatory requirement.
All archers should ensure they:-
- book online beforehand if you plan to shoot advising what round you aim to shoot
- check the website or look out for emails from the club to see if there have been any changes to the planned program before setting off for the field
- aim to arrive by the latest at 10.00am or 1.00pm (Tuesday - 9.00am/Wednesday 4.00pm) depending on the advertised shooting times so that you can help set the field out. (Particularly if you wish to shoot at a target that is not routinely put out - e.g. 90 metres/100 yards etc
- aim to stay until the end of the session even if you may have finished shooting so you can help take the field down, particularity those who may not have been there to set out the field, as a matter of courtesy to other club members.
