Pushing for the Top Spot
Over the last few weekends, our two eilte archers have been touring the country to rack up those ranking points with a view to seeing how far they can go at National and International level.
Yulia Larkins and Antony Wood have been getting better and better this season, with performances that have been impressive.
First was the Masters Tournament held at Lilleshall on the 2nd and 3rd of June where on day one, Antony made it through to the Quarter Finals to finally rank 7th and Yulia finished in fourth place after getting to the Bronze medal match.
On day two they both shot in the WA1440 round with Antony scoring a superb 1220 and Yulia an excellent 1272 to finsh 11th and 5th respectively.
Last weekend saw Stage 2 and 3 of the Nationals Tour held at Evesham. On Day one (Stage 2), Antony again made the Quarter finals and finished in 8th place overall with a score of 644 - only 11 points behind the 1st place archer. Yulia had a smashing day in the head to head round to come away with the Bronze medal.
One day two (Stage 3), Antony kept up the pace and made the final 16 with a score of 633 in the qualifying round. Yulia shot an impressive 622, and made it all the way to the Gold medal match where she took it to a thrilling sudden-death shoot-off. Yulia finally took the Silver medal in that match and finshed second on the day.
All this means that Yulia is currently ranked 8th in the UK and Antony, 6th, with fantastic exposure for both them and our club.
Lastly, we have just heard that Yulia has been selected to represent the England team at the EAF Euronations Cup in Nottighamshire in August. Congratulations Yulia - club and country are behind you.
